Learn to knit this beautiful rose! It can be sewn onto a clip to use as a brooch, hair accessory, shawl clip, ornament, or to decorate your home. We will use the Festive Rose pattern by Ambah O’Brien. It’s a great small project to practice your knitting skills!

For best results, pieces made with wool or wool-blend yarn can be wet blocked before assembling, though this is not required.

Techniques You'll Learn

  • Increases and decreases
  • Flower assembly

Prerequisites

  • Cast on
  • Knit stitch
  • Purl stitch
  • Yarn over
  • Bind off

This is NOT an absolute beginner class. Please be aware that class time will not be spent on reteaching the aforementioned prerequisites.

Homework: Using fingering weight yarn and US 5/3.75 mm needles and leaving an approximately 16” yarn tail, cast on 20 stitches using the backwards loop method and purl one row.

Supplies Included in Class Fee: Printed copy of Festive Rose pattern by Ambah O’Brien

Supplies to Bring:

  • 70 yards fingering weight yarn for the rose (Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper Mini Skein used for sample)
  • 10 yards DK weight yarn for the leaves (Red Door Fibre Studio Classic DK used for sample)
  • US 5/3.75 mm 16-24” circular needles
  • US 6/4.0 mm circular, straight, or double pointed needles
  • Locking stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

Julie learned to crochet and knit as a child, and has been dedicated to fiber arts for more than 15 years as an adult. She especially loves knitting sweaters and crocheting amigurumi. She is a mom of three, and her children have given her many new ideas for projects. She loves to share her knowledge and see people take pride in their new skills!
